Pelosi asks Black Caucus to Come up with Police Reforms

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has asked the Congressional Black Caucus to lead in drafting a legislative response to the protests over the death of George Floyd. Democrats are currently looking at proposals regarding excessive force and racial profiling.

During a press conference Tuesday, Pelosi said “It’s time for us to address the concerns expressed by protesters.” There has been some bipartisanship support for reviewing U.S. police forces and the tactics that lead to Floyd’s death. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that Floyd’s death was filled with “egregious wrongs.”
