Mistakes Made in Rushing Out COVID-19 Antibody Tests

As the pandemic started blowing up in March, the FDA took the unprecedented step of allowing COVID-19 antibody tests to hit the market without double-checking the accuracy.

That’s according to a 3-month investigation done by 60 Minutes.

The tests were billed as a critical tool to figure out where the virus had spread and who might have immunity.

But in the rush to get people tested, the 60 Minutes investigation showed federal officials knew many of the antibody tests were seriously flawed, but continued to allow them to be sold anyway.
