A growing number of U.S. residents believe the severity of the coronavirus pandemic has been exaggerated by politicians.

That’s according to a study released Monday by Pew Research, which reveals while 64 percent of Americans believe COVID-19 information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 30 percent believe info that comes from the White House. Of those surveyed, 68 percent said they believe the government has made the coronavirus “a bigger deal than it really is.”

Broken down by political party, 92 percent of Republicans said they trusted coronavirus information dispensed by the White House, while only 9 percent of Democrats agreed.
