Military Officials Recommend Ban on Confederate Flags at Bases

In a unanimous decision, U.S. military officials have agreed to recommend a ban on Confederate flags on all bases and ships.

The decision, made Monday be representatives for the Army, Navy and Air Force, came at the request of Defense Secretary Mark Esper, according to a statement released by the Pentagon. The recommendation will now be forwarded to him.

The move comes about a month after the U.S. Marine Corps put its own Confederate flag ban in place, forbidding even bumper stickers and coffee mugs bearing the symbol of the Civil War.
