Officials in New Zealand say they will press charges against a coronavirus patient who ditched quarantine to go shopping.

The 32-year-old man allegedly escaped through a fence while quarantining at the Stamford Plaza hotel in Auckland.

He was gone for about an hour while he went to buy groceries.

He later tested positive for the virus.
