TV Reporter Saved from Cancer after Viewer Spots Lump

Victoria Price, a TV news reporter in Florida, thought she was perfectly healthy. So did her doctor and her family members. An alert viewer, however, thought otherwise when he noticed a lump forming on Price’s neck. After he sent an email to the local personality, Price had it checked out — and, sure enough, she was diagnosed with cancer.

“As a journalist, it’s been full throttle since the pandemic began,” Price wrote on her social media pages Thursday. “Never-ending shifts in a never-ending news cycle. Adjusting to remote workflows and in my case, taking on a new investigative role. We were covering the most important health story in a century, but my own health was the farthest thing from my mind.”

A grateful Price is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday to have the growth removed. “Doctor says it’s spreading, but not too much, and we’re hopefully this will be my first and last procedure,” Price says. “Had I never received that email, I never would have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It’s a scary and humbling thought.”
