(CHICAGO) — The Chicago Department of Public Health announced Tuesday that masks will be required in all indoor public settings. That includes bars, restaurants and gyms.

Dr. Allison Arwady doesn’t expect the mandate to last long saying it’s necessary now because of the rise in infections due to the Delta variant. Ahead of the announcement Tuesday, Arwady gave the green light for Chicago Public Schools to reopen August 30.

Meanwhile, eight states and Washington D.C. have been added to the city’s travel advisory.

The eight states are Minnesota, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia.

Already on the list are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming and the territories of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
