Chicago White Sox reliever Liam Hendriks made his triumphant return to the mound last night, just six months after being diagnosed with stage 4 non-hodkins lymphoma.
Home plate umpire John Libka and Angels lead-off hitter Matt Thaiss gave the 34 year old time to soak in the moment before beginning the inning.
Hendriks gave up two runs on three hits in his one inning of work. Sox Manager Pedro Grifol said postgame that Hendriks usage will be a day-to-day assessment.
