Chicago Cop Trial Begins Monday

The trial of Chicago Police Sergeant Michael Vitellaro began Monday morning. The officer is charged with misconduct and aggravated battery.

Cell phone video shows the officer kneeling on the back of a 14-year-old boy last summer in Park Ridge. Vitellaro told police the boy had stolen his son’s bike but surveillance video shows the boy had nothing to do with it.

After an internal investigation by authorities and COPA, he was relieved of his police powers.
