Notre Dame Athletic Director stepping down

The school has announced that Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick will be stepping down from his position early next year, and that NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua will take his place.

Swarbrick has served as Notre Dame’s AD since 2008, and the school has won eight team national championships during that time.

Swarbrick says, “I have worked closely with Pete throughout his time at NBC, and based on that experience, I believe he has the perfect skill set to help Notre Dame navigate the rapidly changing landscape that is college athletics today and be an important national leader as we look to the future.”

Bevacqua will leave NBC Sports later this month to begin the transition process.
