The Chicago White Sox have made their first trade ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, sending starting pitcher Lucas Giolito and reliever Reynaldo Lopez to the Los Angeles Angels for a pair of prospects.
The 29-year old Giolito is set to become a free agent at the end of the year. He has a 3.79 ERA and has struck out 131 batters in 121 innings.
Both Giolito and Lopez came to the White Sox from the Washington Nationals in the trade of Adam Eaton.
In return, the White Sox received catcher Edgar Quero and left-hander Ky Bush.
