Mongo Home After Hospital Stay

(CHICAGO) — Steve “Mongo” McMichael has been released from the hospital and is now home following treatment for sepsis and pneumonia.

McMichael, who has been battling ALS since 2021, was admitted Thursday night to the intensive care unit. A spokesperson for the family said he became unconscious with sepsis.

After receiving IV antibiotics his condition improved and he was able to return home Tuesday night. While the sepsis is gone, his family says he is still battling pneumonia.

Two weeks ago McMichael was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A Committee will meet August 22 where they will choose three candidates for final consideration.

McMichael was a famed member of the 1985 Bears Super Bowl team and played 13 seasons for the Bears.
