A new station opens on the CTA Green line just before the DNC

A new CTA “L” station is open up just in time for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Mayor Johnson at the ribbon cutting today at Damen Green line station at the intersection of Lake and Damen, less than a half mile from the United Center. Starting today , trains will be stopping at the new station. The station is opening seven years after the plans were first announce. The project was funded by the Kinzie Industrial Corridor TIF District, with an estimated cost of $80 million.
