Metra has unveiled a specially painted train engine for Veterans Day that’s set to enter service later this month, the transit agency said.
The locomotive features a bald eagle on the front, with American flags and blue camouflage silhouetted with military figures saluting on the sides.
It is set to start service on the Rock Island Line, before moving to service on other Metra lines.
Jim Derwinski, a Navy vet and Metra’s CEO and executive director, said Metra currently has 300 veterans working for the agency.
