President Donald Trump increased his approval rating among Democrats by 4 points month over month, according to a new Quantus Insights poll.
In the results published Thursday, Trump recorded an 11% approval rating among Democrats, up from 7% in April’s poll. Trump also got 5-point boost from Black voters, with 27% saying they approve vs. 22% in April, Newsweek reported.
Overall, 43.8% said they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, with 47.8% disapproving.
Trump is 11 points underwater with independents; 40% said they approve against 51% who disapprove, according to the poll.
However, in a question about the 2020 election, 52% said they would vote for Trump against 45% who said former President Joe Biden. Trump lost the 2020 election with 46.9% of the vote, with Biden garnering 51.3%.
“This is the landscape as it stands: not a mandate, but a warning. The country is split but Trump’s side is energized while the rest of the country lags in confidence. If Democrats thought 2024 was the reckoning, they may want to brace for 2026. Because the fight isn’t over. It may just be beginning,” Quantus said in its analysis.
Quantus Insights surveyed 1,000 registered voters from May 18-20. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points with a 95% confidence level.
