(PHILADELPHIA) — The last penny will be minted today at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia. The president ordered the end of the penny as it has cost almost 4 cents per penny to mint.
The mint has been striking pennies since 1793.
Most retailers say they will round up or down to make even transactions.
