(CHICAGO) — The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says the death of a man found shot inside of a South Shore apartment on Saturday was a homicide.
Chicago police say a person discovered 51-year-old Marcos Aleida in bed inside an apartment in the 6700 block of South Jeffery Ave. just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officials say Aleida suffered gunshot wounds to the head, chest and back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to preliminary data from the medical examiners office, Chicago saw 426 homicides in 2025.
