(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — President Donald J. Trump will address the nation at 8 p.m. Chicago time with what White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt calls “an important update on Iran.” Yesterday, Trump floated a timeline in which the U.S. could leave Iran in “maybe two weeks, maybe three,” though a deal could come sooner. U.S. stocks surged Tuesday on word of a possible end date.
Meanwhile, President Trump is also putting responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz on “whoever’s using the strait,” telling other countries to “go get your own oil” and “there’s no reason for us” to protect the shipping route.
While concern over safety in the strait remains high, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is now threatening U.S. companies over what the IRGC claims is involvement in the conflict, issuing warnings to Apple, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, Palantir, and several others.
