(CHICAGO) — Mayor Brandon Johnson has announced that he will seek re-election, ending months of speculation in the media.
Johnson had the full support of the Chicago Teachers Union during his first run. It’s unclear if they will back him in his re-election bid.
He joins a crowded field that includes Alexi Giannoulias, Susana Mendoza, Mike Quigley and more. With a crowded field the result will likely lead to a run-off election.
Johnson made his announcement at the DuSable Museum.
