2 Chicago pizzas named among the 27 best in the U.S. by Food & Wine

Two Chicago pizzas have been named among the best in the U.S. in a new ranking from Food & Wine.

The popular publication dubbed its 27 “most essential pies in America right now,” with two Chicago zas and several Midwest options making the cut.

For Chicago, the two pizzas ranked include the No Comply at Milly’s Pizza In The Pan and the Housemade Italian Beef and Giardiniera at Pizz’amici.

Milly’s was cited for “bringing back pan pizza” with “inventive topping combinations” like the No Comply, which has ’nduja, ricotta and Italian saba syrup.

Meanwhile, Pizz’amici was noted for being “the herald of Chicago’s tavern-style pizza renaissance” with its “cracker-thin-crusted pies,” like their signature “thinly shaved, jus-simmered Chicago beef and hot giardiniera,” which the publication says “is uniting the city (and perhaps the world) around this lesser-known style.”

Other Midwest hits like the Long Drive Home at Michigan & Trumbull Pizza in Detroit and The Perfect Pickle Pie at Pizzeria Lola in Minneapolis also made the list.
