(CHICAGO) A 17-year-old boy was charged last week with shooting up a vehicle after he beat one of the occupants with a pipe earlier that day.
Among the charges, the teen faces counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm, Aurora police said in a statement. His name was not released because of his age.
The initial argument started about 1 p.m. July 16. The 17-year-old beat a 15-year-old boy with a pipe as the younger boy walked with friends near Jackson Street and North Avenue in Aurora, police said.
The 15-year-old, “who had a long-running personal disagreement with the suspect,” later contacted the 17-year-old over social media, and the boys arranged to meet that night at a parking lot to fight. Both got several friends to join them, police said.
At 9:15 p.m., as the younger boy and three of his friends drove to the meeting spot, the 17-year-old fired multiple shots at their vehicle, police said. No one was hit, but the vehicle was struck twice.
The 17-year-old was arrested at his home without incident the next night and taken to Kane County Youth Home, police said.
His court information was not known.
