(DES PLAINES) A pair of crashes about two hours apart from each other on the same block Thursday afternoon in northwest suburban Des Plaines left a pedestrian and two bicyclists hospitalized.
About 1:45 p.m., a 69-year-old woman was in the crosswalk at 1484 E. Miner St. when she was hit by a car driven by an 88-year-old woman, according to Des Plaines police.
As officers investigated that crash, about 3:50 p.m. a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old woman hit two 13-year-old girls riding bicycles in the crosswalk just steps away at 1501 E. Miner St., police said.
The pedestrian and bicyclists were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, but police did not release their conditions.
Both drivers stayed at the scene of the crashes. The woman behind the wheel in the second crash was taken to Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights for evaluation, police said.
No citations or charges were pending Thursday night as authorities investigate.
