UPDATES WITH FATALITY
A 3-year-old girl died after being pulled out of a hotel swimming pool in north suburban Gurnee late Thursday, fire officials said Friday.
About 8:50 p.m., crews from the Gurnee Fire Department pulled the girl from the pool of the Holiday Inn at 6161 Rte. 132, Battalion Chief Jim Pellitteri said.
Advanced life support measures were used on the unresponsive girl, who was then taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Pellitteri said.
She has since been pronounced dead, fire officials said Friday morning. The Lake County coroner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.
