(BUFFALO, NY) A new report says DNA evidence does not confirm that Blackhawks star Patrick Kane raped a woman last month.
The Buffalo News Newspaper is quoting four sources familiar with the Kane investigation who say DNA taken from a rape kit found no trace of Kane’s DNA in the woman’s genital area, or underwear.
However two of the sources say Kane’s DNA was found beneath the woman’s fingernails and on her shoulders.
Legal experts say these DNA findings do not necessarily prove that a rape did not occur.
A grand jury investigation into the alleged incident was abruptly postponed, amid reports that Kane and the woman are negotiating a financial settlement that would result in her dropping criminal charges against him.
The woman has reportedly told authorities that Kane raped her after she went back to his Hamburg, New York home on August 1st, after meeting him in a bar.
