(CHICAGO) The property tax hike Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will propose to the City Council tomorrow is worse than first thought.
Mayor Emanuel reportedly says the property tax hike will be $543-million-dollars, and when you add in the additional $45-million he’s asking the aldermen to authorize for school construction, it’s just shy of $600-million-dollars.
He’s also revealing the hit for the new garbage pick-up fee on homeowners: $9.50 per month.
Also on the way, are higher charges for cabs, ride-sharing, and e-cigarettes plus continuing increases for water and sewer services.
