(CHICAGO) So, what do the aldermen think of the mayor’s bad news budget?
“To get another slap in the face with an addition $1,000-$1200 a year, that’s not something that they’re going to stomach easy,” said Alderman Maldanado.
But Alderman Ed Burke predicted many more than a city council majority of 26 votes when the roll is called.
“There will be a lot more than 26 when all is said and done,” said Ald. Burke.
Even the mayor’s critic, Alderman Scott Waguespack thinks Mayor Emanuel has the votes for the record property tax hike.
“Yeah, I think he has 26 from a good portion of the people who are not going to be affected by a property tax hike like many ward taxpayers will be,” said Ald. Waguespack.
But the new $9.50 a month garbage fee may have to be changed.
