(CHICAGO) The late Labor Day and year-end sales have helped the automakers post positive September year-over-year sales numbers.
Fiat Chrysler, which is currently facing contract issues with its workers, had a good September – posting a 14% sales jump compared to a year ago.
It was a strong month for its Jeep brand which was up 40-percent.
Ford reported a 23% sales increase.
“The best September, frankly, in roughly a decade. Strong performance up and down the line-up,” said Ford U.S. Marketing, Sales, and Service Vice President Mark LaNeve.
Volkswagen, which is dealing with an emissions scandal, finished September with roughly flat U.S. sales (just 0.56% from a year earlier).
Nissan surged 18%, Toyota posted a 16% gain, and Honda sales were up 13%.
Last year, Labor Day weekend was counted as part of August sales. This year, it was counted in September.
