‘Tentative agreement’ ends McHenry high school teachers’ strike

Classes will resume at northwest suburban McHenry high schools Tuesday morning after the district’s school board reached an agreement with striking teachers.

The McHenry Community High School District 156 school board and the McHenry Community High School Teachers Association have reached a “tentative agreement,” the board announced on the district website Saturday morning.

The strike started Oct. 1 after teachers and administrators failed to reach an agreement in contract negotiations.

Students at the McHenry High School East Campus will start at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, while students at the West Campus will start at 8:30 a.m., the district said.
