(CHICAGO) The CTA’s Yellow Line reopens today after being shut down for more than five months.
Service was halted May 17th after a Metropolitan Water Reclamation District construction project caused the ground to give way under the tracks near McCormick Blvd. in Skokie.
The CTA has been running test trains to make sure everything is in order. The agency initially was hopeful to have service restored within weeks but the extent of the damage was too great. MWRD has taken responsibility for the accident will reimburse the CTA.
Yellow Line riders get free rides and free parking today.
