(CHICAGO) The auto industry is reporting its best October sales month in more than a decade.
General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler are reporting double-digit U.S. sales gains in October. The last time they saw numbers that good was October 2001.
GM sales rose almost 16% compared to the same time last year, while Ford reported a 13% gain. Ford Analyst Erich Merkle says among the hot sellers were trucks.
“Things like F-Series which, at retail, was up 12%,” Merkle said. “We had our best October F-Series sales performance since 2004.”
Fiat Chrysler reports an October sales jump of nearly 15%.
Volkswagen AG, which is dealing with an emissions scandal, says sales were flat compared to a year ago.
