(CHICAGO) It looks like disgraced former-House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Plano, who’s pleaded guilty to hush money charges, will get to keep his $73,000-a-year federal pension.
Hastert can keep his pension because he’s pleaded guilty to conduct after he left office in 2007. So he doesn’t appear to have violated any congressional ethics that would cause him to lose his federal pension. Just a year ago ironically, he talked about congressional ethics in general.
Listen for Bill Cameron’s report for WLS News here:
“One of the things on ethics, you have to have good people in Congress that have good moral standards, but the more mouse traps you put around people they’re gonna get their toes caught in it.”
Now it’s a fair question to wonder whether Hastert had those “good moral standards.”
