(CHICAGO) Recruitment efforts by the Chicago Police Department are looking successful.
The department is trying to bring in more minority candidates and hundreds attended the last recruitment fair over the past weekend. While that’s good news, FOP President Dean Angelo tells Big John Howell on WLS-AM 890 that police morale is low right now but hopes things turn around with interim Superintendent John Escalante at the helm.
“I’ve known him for many years and he’s a very good guy,” Angelo said. “He came up through the ranks. He’s well respected. He came in at a time when probably most people wouldn’t want that position but I think so far so good.”

CPD will be holding another recruitment session January 9th. Those interested must live in Chicago and be at least 18 years old.
