(CHICAGO) The power outage that shut down the South Shore train line has been repaired, although service remained suspended between Chicago and northwest Indiana Thursday morning.
Service was suspended because of Northern Indiana Public Service Company-related damage caused by the blizzard, according to a statement posted to the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District website shortly after 3 a.m.
NIPSCO spokeswoman Kathleen Szot said the damage causing the outage had been repaired by approximately 6 a.m.
However, train service remained suspended as of 6 a.m., according to NICTD. Metra will honor South Shore tickets on the Metra Electric District line for riders affected by the service outage.
