(CHICAGO) If you are headed to the White Sox or Cubs home openers in the next few days, be sure to leave yourself extra time.
For the first time, both teams are using metal detectors to screen fans as they enter the ballparks.
The White Sox have been screening fans with metal detectors and wands since 2014 but this will be the first year the added security will be in effect for Wrigley Field.
Major League Baseball has ordered all of it’s teams to implement security screening for fans, which is why both U.S. Cellular Field and Wrigley Field will be opening up two and a half hours before game time.
The White Sox open at home Friday against the Cleveland Indians, the Cubs open against the Cincinnati Reds Monday night.
