(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that temporary lane closures are underway on outbound Interstate 55, over the BNSF Railroad, near Channahon, Monday, April 11. The closure is necessary to repair a hole in the bridge deck.
In order to complete the repairs, a closure is in place for the right lane of outbound Interstate 55, over the BNSF Railroad, 8 miles south of Interstate 80. The repairs are expected to be completed late this evening, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
