Morley Safer, the globe-trotting CBS correspondent who had filed more than 900 reports for the network’s TV news magazine 60 Minutes, died Thursday at his home in Manhattan, CBS Corp. confirmed. He was 84. He died just a week after 60 Minutes celebrated his career as they announced his retirement. Chicago Tribune Columnist Phil Rosenthal joined John to talk about Safer’s life and career. Ald. Ray Lopez wants to offer $200 rebates as an incentive for homeowners to install exterior surveillance cameras. Theoretically, the cameras could then be linked to the city’s existing camera network. How would feel about giving Big Brother a good view of your front yard?
Two Chinese fighters have conducted an “unsafe” intercept of a US spy plane in international air space over the South China Sea. China says we’re flying in their airspace.
