(CHICAGO) Worldwide terrorism has caused beefed up security at many big public places in Chicago and now more is now planned for McCormick Place.
Off duty cops have been working security at Navy Pier and now McCormick Square’s Michael Merchant says plans are in the works to let them work at McCormick Place and at the new DePaul Center. Here’s why.
“I think just in general what’s been going on, in terms of attacks, and things that have happened in Brussels and things that have happened in France and you know, quite frankly, things that have happened in Orlando now,” Merchant said.
The tab for this increased security will be allocated among Chicago Police Department, McCormick Square and the shows that operate there.
