(CLEVELAND) It was brief but loud protest from the convention floor on day one of the Republican Convention in Cleveland. Republican National Convention Chairman Reince Priebus took to the stage Monday declaring, “This convention will come to order.”
What followed were some speeches taking aim at President Obama and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee…Hillary Clinton.
Then, loud chants from the convention floor, “Point of order. Point of order”
The shouting came after party officials adopted rules by a shouted voice vote instead of a state-by-state vote as some delegates wanted. It was a move aimed at defeating anti-Trumpers who wanted to derail the presumptive GOP nominee.
After a dinner break, prime-time speakers included Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, former Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, and Donald Trump’s wife, Melania.
