(CLEVELAND) Opening day of the Republican National Convention was full of emotional moments among the chants and cheers.
Trying to hold back tears, former Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, told the RNC crowd, “The only way we’re going to keep America safe is to have an elite military, made up of the warriors and prepared by the toughest training that we have to offer. Every one of us has to step up in some way. We need our leaders to lead by example and each – [excuse me – clears throat]. They need to lead by example and show the American public that each and every life underneath the flag should be family and treated accordingly.”
At one point the crowd responded: “USA, USA.”
Gold Star mother Patricia Smith talked about her son, Sean’s, death in the 2012 attack on an American compound in Benghazi, Libya – when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. “For all of this loss, for all of this grief, for all of the citizens of the tragedy in Benghazi has brought upon America – I blame Hillary Clinton,” said Smith.
Smith received a huge response from the crowd when she told them: “That’s right, “Hillary for prison.” She deserves to be in stripes.”
Today – the RNC focus will be on jobs.
