(CHICAGO) The Democratic National Convention continues in Philadelphia without Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who is joking about it all.
Emanuel is too toxic to get a spot on the main stage in Philly. Instead, Tuesday he was re-announcing a project in Pullman and joking about the disunity at the convention.
“I was with my kids yesterday watching and when I saw some of the boos, I said you know what, Will Rodgers was insightful 100 years ahead of his time [when he said] “I’m not a member of an organized party, I’m a member of the Democratic Party,” that’s a joke,” Emanuel said.
So what’s the mayor’s take from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle sitting next to former President Bill Clinton at the convention?
“You know, as somebody who sat by the side of two presidents for a collective nine years, it’s always an honor not only to be with the president and to sit by them, [but] to help them, as I was talking to President Clinton actually over the weekend.”
Or was Bill Clinton sending a signal that he’d like to see Preckwinkle run for mayor or governor?
