(CHICAGO) A City Council hearing on how to reform police oversight produced one simple-sounding solution to the police-involved shooting scandal.
At City Hall, the aldermen spent hours picking the brain of University of Chicago law professor Craig Futterman. He recommended new oversight agencies that don’t repeat the past.
“It seems that we always have the same playbook. We have political leaders who will take the mic and say we will do a thorough investigation, have a Blue Ribbon investigation, no stone unturned, heads roll! But the underlying conditions haven’t been addressed.”
He said the solution is transparency and accountability … but mean it.
