(CHICAGO) A north suburban person is the first to test positive for West Nile Virus in Lake County this year.
The Lake County Health Department says a resident of Ingleside was hospitalized in late August and discharged in early September.
So far this year, 84 batches of mosquitoes and two birds have tested positive for West Nile virus in the county.
Last year, 64 counties in Illinois reported a West Nile virus positive mosquito batch, bird and/or human case.
Last year the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 77 human cases, although human cases are under-reported, including nine deaths.
