(CHICAGO) On the day after Hillary Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia, Chicago Democrats were defending her from the Donald Trump suggestion Hillary’s health is an issue.
Democrats were playing doctor on the day after. Senate candidate Tammy Duckworth probably didn’t do Hillary any favors by calling her “relatively healthy.”
“Well I think that the reports show that she is relatively healthy,” Duckworth said. “She does have apparently pneumonia that she is being treated for, is expected to recover fully. You know, I have every confidence that she’ll be able to do the job of president.”
Comptroller candidate Susanna Mendoza gave Hillary a vigorous defense.
“I would say rather than talking about how frail she is, we should be talking about how strong and tuff this woman is,” Mendoza said. “That she has been able to keep up a schedule probably wearing a bullet proof vest in 80-plus degree weather, in the beating sun, to say that she felt a little bit dehydrated and maybe light headed, most of us probably would have under those circumstances.”
A Clinton spokesman says that Clinton will be back on the campaign trail by mid-week.
