A prisoner spent almost five months in prison without knowing his bail was just $2, his lawyers have claimed.
Aitabdel Salem, 41, was an inmate at the notorious Rikers Island prison in New York City, from November 2014 to April 2015 unaware a few dollars could have set him free.
The Queens resident was initially jailed for attacking a police officer who arrested him for stealing a Zara coat, police said.
