(CHICAGO) As World War II Navy vet Josephine Regnier was waiting to be picked up for a dentist appointment, she was attacked outside of a building in the 5100 block of South Long Avenue in Chicago.
The suspect then stole Regnier’s purse and took off in, what turned out to be a stolen SUV. He crashed it about a block away. The crash was caught on security video.
The 94-year-old suffered fractured ribs, a black eye, and a possible concussion.
Her daughter, Judy Dusk, tells ABC7 that what is puzzling about all of this is, “She’s 94 years old, he didn’t have to beat her up. He could have just taken her purse and left but I don’t know what compelled him to that. He’s a coward,” said Dusk.
The attack took place in broad daylight – just before noon on Wednesday.
