(CHICAGO) Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is being stripped of his title as Public Enemy No. 1.
Following his extradition to the U.S., the Chicago Crime Commission decided to strip El Chapo of the moniker. The only other person to be named Public Enemy No. 1 by the non-government commission was Al Capone.
El Chapo was named him Public Enemy No. 1 back in 2013 when he was laying low in Mexico. The commission says his Sinaloa cartel is responsible for smuggling tons of drugs into Chicago over the years.
El Chapo faced federal charges in Chicago but was initially sent to New York where he faces similar trafficking charges. He has already pleaded not guilty to those charges. There is now word on if or when he could be prosecuted in Chicago.
