Rauner says there is additional funding in the proposed state budget to train then hire state police troopers.
“Our budget prioritizes public safety and proposes funding for two Illinois State Police cadet classes, adding new troopers to our law enforcement ranks,” Rauner said Wednesday. “Those officers will allow us to send more patrols to the Chicago area, to the expressways, to counter the violence that has spilled over onto the highways there.”
The Sun-Times first reported that Rauner was seeking to train and hire 200 additional state police.
