(CHICAGO) A Hobart, Indiana man is charged with killing his co-worker outside of their Chesterton bar.
Nicole Gland, a bartender at the Upper Deck Lounge, was found dead in her SUV, outside of the bar earlier this week.
Police say their investigation led them to Christopher Dillard, 50, after they found out another police department had taken him into custody for allegedly stealing a knife and vehicle from his girlfriend.
Chesterton Police Chief David Cincoski says, during a recorded police station visit between Dillard and his girlfriend, Dillard told Gaul that, “I killed that girl. I didn’t mean to.”
“He indicated to her that drugs had a hold of him,” said Chief Cincoski.

Police say Dillard told them that he showed up at the Upper Deck Lounge hours before Gland was found dead, not to work, but to deliver cocaine and pot to Gland based on a previously arranged plan.
Dillard is facing murder and robbery charges.
