(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle are reacting to yesterday’s indictment of the three cops on the scene of the 2014 police killing of Laquan Mcdonald.
The mayor won’t talk about the merits of the obstruction of justice case, but is adamant about police policy. “There’s zero tolerance for not telling the truth and not upholding not only the law but our understanding of professional responsibilities.”
Preckwinkle is hoping there’s more to come. “I’m pleased to know the special prosecutor intends to hold other officers on the scene reports that were allegedly filed that corroborated Jason VanDyke’s account of the events, which is quite contrary to the video. I hope that’s not the end of the indictments.”
Preckwinkle says she’s hoping for more charges up the change of command.
