(Dublin, CA) Fighting back tears, former Northwestern Professor Wyndham Lathem appears in a California courtroom and waives extradition. “Dr. Lathem will be headed back to Chicago in the next couple of weeks,” said Lathem’s lawyer Kenneth Wine.
No motive is known for the death of Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau, 26, whose body was found in Lathem’s Chicago apartment on July 27. Lathem’s lawyer tells ABC7, “I don’t know anything about the case and anybody who says they do is just speculating and you’d be a fool to do so. The state of Illinois has 30 days to pick him up.”
Lathem and Oxford University Financial Officer, Andrew Warren, turned themselves into California authorities in Oakland and San Francisco last Friday. Warren is scheduled to appear in court, in San Francis on Friday morning.
Northwestern University says it fired Wyndam Lathem, an associate professor of Microbiology-Immunology, when an arreste warrant was issued for him last week.
